JPJ Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 So it looks like I’ve blown something in my little TC Electronics BG250 208 combo. Turned it on today and there was a crackling followed by a pop and then no output and that horrible hospital antiseptic smell of knackered electronics. Has anyone experienced this with the BG250 head and if so, was it an expensive repair? Quote
binky_bass Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 There was a guy on Gumtree selling 4 of these all with soft cases for £400 for the lot... You could just buy these and sell 3 of them and keep the 4th, you'll make your money back on 3 easy. 1 Quote
jezzaboy Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 I had the exact same thing happen to a BG 250 15"inch combo a few years back. It was one of the first one`s and they had a bit of a rep for it. I didn`t even bother to get it sorted and one of my mates used it as a cab. Quote
nilebodgers Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 I don’t think it is going to be economically repairable. Can you get a new head and stick it in the combo case? Quote
JPJ Posted November 18, 2021 Author Posted November 18, 2021 So I decide to not go down the repair route and instead picked up a secondhand head version of the same amp. Unbelievably, TC use different sized bolts and bosses to attach the feet to the head version than the combo version but after a rummage through the parts drawer, the amp is now safely installed in the combo and all works as it should. Downloaded the Spectracomp TonePrint to the amp and all is well again 😎 3 Quote
