Bassmidget209
I think this has been answered already but my.old band played in drop C#. I just used power slinkys and that worked well for me. In fact I downtuned to C# standard as it would appear my bass brain doesn't operate well in drop tunings 🤣. Anyways power slinkys and I'm sure one of the heavier rotosounds sounded great and Tim commerford was one of my sound inspirations there as well.
acidbass
For me, drop C# standard can be done with standard gauges and just a good setup. Put your strings on, tune them down and let them sit for a day to allow the truss rod a chance to readjust to the less tension. Then begin your setup! NB - I probably wouldn't go lighter than 45-105 in any event. Good luck!
Jono Bolton
I played in a band that tuned to C# Standard for a few years, and for that I used a 5 string set - D' Addarios with a .130 as the bottom string. Anything lighter felt too flappy. I even tried a set of Newtones that were designed for detuning, but they were pretty rubbish IMO. The most astonishing technique - especially when he slaps which is also sort of upside down - mental! Well worth a look at his youtube channel.
