Reggaebass Posted September 6, 2021 Posted September 6, 2021 I’ve just got an ampeg V4-B amp and I’d like to pair it with an ampeg 115 cab, the 3 main ones I think are PF 115 LF PF 115 HE SVT 15 E but I believe there’s others, I’m using my Markbass ny 115 at the moment which I like , but I fancy trying an ampeg to match, what’s the differences and will I still get nice deep lows for reggae and dub 🙂 Quote

Reggaebass Posted September 6, 2021 Author Posted September 6, 2021 Thanks JL👍, very informative, so I’ve just ruled out the HE, I’ve no use for a tweeter 🙂 Quote

pbasspecial Posted September 6, 2021 Posted September 6, 2021 I know you want a 15 but there’s a 212av for sale on here that seems good value. Might be worth considering too. 1 Quote

Reggaebass Posted September 6, 2021 Author Posted September 6, 2021 Omg how cool is this, none for sale though 1 Quote
BassAdder60 Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 I had the PF115LF cab and loved it but it’s very big and heavy for what is a single cab They do have a ton of depth to the sound but again maybe too much low end for some. Hated the tolex covering as it’s very smooth so amp slides off it ( get a rubber mat ) If weight isn’t an issue or space then they are well priced cabs and two would make a huge rig Quote

Reggaebass Posted September 7, 2021 Author Posted September 7, 2021 One of Ampeg’s suggestions is the SVT-15E , has anyone tried this cab Quote
BassAdder60 Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 That’s a great cab but pricey I think compared to the PF series I had the SVT cabs in my younger years ending up with a 610 after trying 115 and 210 cabs ! Quote
pbasspecial Posted September 8, 2021 Posted September 8, 2021 If you really want a 15. Can’t go wrong with a Barefaced Compact. Pick them up for around £250-£300 s/h. They are light and very loud. I A/B’d a friends one against my old Super Compact and personally preferred the sound of the Compact. It was also noticeably louder than the SC. 1 Quote

pbasspecial Posted September 8, 2021 Posted September 8, 2021 I think if you are wanting to squeeze every ounce of wattage out of the PF50 or a V4B then the Compacts are very sensitive (Loud) and light. If you get one with a cloth grill it will match up ok with an Ampeg quite nicely (ish) 1 Quote
pbasspecial Posted September 8, 2021 Posted September 8, 2021 Hope this helps. Pf50 on top of a Supercompact and a compact. 1 Quote

pbasspecial Posted September 8, 2021 Posted September 8, 2021 If you get a compact you’ll probably have to turn it on its side as it believe it is 19” wide on top but 24” on its side so should fit/make the v4b look better. Plus you can always add another at a later date. Would look and sound incredibly! 1 Quote
