Mada Music
Wondered what a P bass would sound like with an Active EQ circuit and MM pup? Me too. Lockdown does strange things to us all. Sounds great to be honest, very authentic P/J sound in passive. Realllllly bright like an Ernie Ball in active mode. Lots of low end too. Nice jazz tones with a hefty thump with the bass and treble up Great all rounder. Pots 1 Volume 2 Pickup blend (3 Way) 3 Treble Boost/Cut (3 Way) 4 Bass Boost/Cut (3 Way) (5) Active/Off/Passive Switch Edited September 6, 2021 by Mada Music spelling
bloke_zero
Nice - I think that is maybe the ultimate tone monster pickup combo. The MM seems close to the bridge? What was your thinking?
Mada Music
Just wanted to have the MM pup in a regular jazz position but still be comfy for playing. A j pup fits right in the middle of the split poles spacing
JohnDaBass
Nice job, looks fantastic and I'm sure it sounds as good as it looks. Would you be kind enough to share details on pre-amp and MM Pup?

Would you be kind enough to share details on pre-amp and MM Pup? Sure, it's a Tone Master 9 v circuit, 2 band eq with bass and treble boost/cut. The pup is a from a SUB Stingray. Sounds great as is, in the future maybe I could buy a SD quarter pounder P and an SMB-4 pickup to spoil myself, but so far I can't complain. paul_5
I did this to my P bitsa, but put the MM in the sweet spot, and made the P pickup a reverse P. I made a stingray preamp but mounted it in a pedal, as I’ve got passive MMS in other basses too.
Mada Music
Bass Pick-up Upgrades Picked these up online for a good price. A Tasty pair of Seymour Duncan Vintage Quarter Pounder P-Bass Pickups with nice cloth wire and looooooads of winding. & A hefty Seymour Duncan EB Stingray style Alnico Pickup. This Frankenstein P-Bass with active pre-amp and a jazz neck is soon to become "The Green Machine"

That’s not a quarter pounder SPB-3 but a SPB-1 I prefer the one you’ve got bu a long way!
Mada Music
You are correct sir! I also got him to make a custom 3 band pre amp. The pots are now neck pup vol with push pull for active/passive of the whole circuit, bridge pup vol, bass , mid, treble. It sounds amazing now and I really like the pearl plate and wooden knobs now too. Edited November 16, 2021 by Mada Music
