are they any good at getting rid of the boominess that you can get in some rooms/settings?

I got one of these and I love it.

 

I always use it for my db in the war against feedback and battling the boom - its got a low cut filter and a notch filter.

The other features eg tuner/mute/eq/compressor  are handy too.
