Bearsohmy
Hi guys, Hope you're all good! Just signing up to get some knowledge, since I'm buying my first bass soon (I don't know what it'll be, yet!) After years of on/off dabbling in electric and acoustic guitar I've realised what I really want to be playing I've been listening to Random Access Memories repeatedly this summer, and I blame it entirely for my new bass fixation. Well, that and Talking Heads and Khruangbin. Stay tuned for rookie questions!

SumOne
Welcome. I'm a fan of Daft Punk too - some great basslines, I've been trying to learn this:

Richard R
Welcome to a friendly forum, and a great hobby! RAM is a superb album, one of my all time favorites on so many levels but especially the production - just staggering. It cost over $1m to produce, and you can hear it across everything. https://www.soundonsound.com/people/recording-random-access-memories-daft-punk As for new bass recommendations: pick a budget and play a few to find what feels right in your hands. Anything by Yamaha or Ibanez will be good, but others will have played more basses than I and can make suggestions. When you have one, just play it - and stay away from the marketplace for a couple of years... 😁
RachAllenBand
Good to see you here. Now I don't feel so alone. Just got my first bass, a Hofner Special Edition (needed something lightweight). Best wishes to you in getting your first bass!
