roger Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 Anyone stripped a stingray body? I’m guessing it’s polyurethane! Heat gun/chemicals, any help would be appreciated. cheers roger Quote
Reggaebass Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 I’ve stripped a few jazz bodies which were poly and imo, the heat gun is the best tool, don’t hold it on for too long, you will see when it starts to bubble and just scrape it off, wear a mask or do it outside if you can 🙂 Quote

Reggaebass Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 If you’re near East London I’ve got one your welcome to borrow 👍 Quote
songofthewind Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 I’ve stripped a few bodies and then refinished them. The last one, I decided to use the existing finish as the base coat. that worked very well, and saved me the bother of hours with a heat gun. Lightly sanded poly takes undercoat very well. Quote

I’m going from honeyburst back to natural and finished with tru oil Quote

Reggaebass Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 Not if you take it easy and don’t hold the gun on for too long 1 Quote
