What is this 4'33" you talk off. Never heard of it.

Dave

It was our biggest song. The cheers when we played this at the end of the night!

I found the turnaround after the middle 8 particularly tricky. Definitely took more than one listen.

You know you are getting old when you would rather have roadies than groupies...

How about groupies that can carry an 8x10 cab and know how to wire up the PA?

Is this the John Cage version ?

I struggled with the bass tab on that one.

Dave

I struggled to hear this when i did my youtube search. Its quite a forgiving bassline at the start but it fades into the background the more you hear it.

Have to say i was rather taken aback by the lacklustre ending.

Its a style i've been trying to learn for many years and been so disappointed by my own results.

Never mind the bass player's role in this, it's the guitarists you need to feel sorry for.

Imagine - a guitarist remaining silent on stage for over four minutes ? Just about impossible.

Most guitarists start getting twitchy around the two minute mark, and then by three minutes they lose control completely and can't resist having a quick widdle.

Great thing about this tune is it easy to transpose, you know incase the singer cant be silent in tune on the high notes.

I'm sure I'm being trolled or missing something vital here. But I'll bite.

What do these photos of guitar fretboards have to do with bass tab?

WOW that's like 3D imagery. Bit scary with Halloween time coming up soon. 😂

Now that i see it in bass notation it becomes a lot clearer.

Not sure why i was so worried about learning this song. Looks pretty easy when you see it laid out like that @ubit

Think i'll play this tomorrow night for first time in Glasgow with the Glam Rock band after 18mths silence. (nice wee gig advert slipped in there) :tatice_03:

Right i'm away to learn it.

The fans used to boo up until we played this. They wanted this one all night. They loved it and always gave their biggest cheer when we launched into it.

I see this is the Ames Trapezoid version of the tab.

You can tell because it's the version that sails past people and goes right through them - seemingly impossible at the time, but logical once you get your head around it.

I recommend cutting it out, attaching to very thin card, and then suspending on string so it can be rotated.

The measure of a bass player is on how long it took you to learn it ?

We tried it with the Wirebirds, but the harmonica player could only manage the first 20 seconds before raising the infernal instrument to his lips. To be fair, it took several weeks of rehearsal to get him that far.
