Turns out my 5 string bass is quite heavy for doing multiple 1 hour sets! Am looking for strap options for ways to efficiently balance the weight, have seen some harnesses online.. tempting if they work, they look a bit naff though! Has anyone found any good solutions please?

Many people will recommend a Neotech padded comfort strap...

They work a treat.

Yep. I had one come with a bass I bought and have to agree with the name, they are comfortable.

As are the Mono GS1 “Betty” straps.

I had that for a few months but found it would slide all the time and I sold it.

I bought a Neotech Mega strap and that has been with me since.

Pinegrove wide leather strap. I got one for my 5. Nice bit of kit.

Another vote for Pinegrove 4" straps here.  I have three of them.

I've been using Italia leather straps for a long time. They come in two widths, 2.5" and 4", and with a choice of a rough suede backing (that won't slip on your shoulder) or smooth glove leather. I love them, they look great and my oldest one has served me for 15 years already without any noticeable deterioration. They're not cheap, and they've hiked their prices over the past few years, but they regularly have discounts for "returning customers" - so now I have 8

Comfort Stapp are great, but I find that neoprene straps tend to leave white marks on your black shirt/jacket if you sweat. I prefer a quality wide (3") leather strap to be better, particularly the Levys or Gruv Gear ones. The Gruv Gear Duo Strap especially, is brilliant if you are playing a heavy bass for 3 or 4 sets every night.

My strap is a Maruszczyk PES40 'Retro' much like this. 4 inches wide, lots of padding. I have several heavy basses and this makes all of them a breeze to wear. I used a Comfort Strapp for many years, this thing is more comfortable if anything (although I would also heartily recommend the Comfort Strapp).

I was going to post this very thing.  Best straps I have worn.
