Andy Damerum
Hi, I currently use a peavey MiniMEGA with a markbass 2x10 traveller and a markbass 121 which does sound great but I’m thinking about investing in a 4x10 instead of the 121 for extra headroom. any advice on this combo? id still like the increased bottom from the 121 ideally but want the range at bigger venues. chris_b
Looks like the amp has a minimum of 4 ohms. So you'll need an 8 ohm 410 to be able to pair it with the 210 and that amp. That means both cabs will be getting the same amount of power, so keep within the power ratings of the 210 and you'll be OK. That's kinda wasting some of the potential of the 410, and a lot of it's potential if it was a 4 ohm cab. I'm not impressed by powerful amps that don't go to 2.67 ohms. Maybe a good move would be to buy a 4 ohm 410 and you'll get 4 rigs out of 3 cabs, ie 112, 210, 410, 210 + 112.

Dan Dare
If you get another 210, you can pair it with the one you have to make a 410. It will be cheaper than buying a 410 and you have the option of using one or both depending on the size of the job. And the plus is that you can stack them vertically for those gigs without PA.
lemmywinks
I would go for the vertical 4x10 option, there's a guy selling some Traveller 102p cabs on the Bass Players' Market UK Facebook group, £275 each.
Phil Starr
We did a shootout with the 121 at the Southwest bass bash a few weeks ago, it was up against some much pricier FRFR opposition but was very obvious that it has a quite strongly 'flavoured' frequency response. Not a lot of deep bass but a very noticeable hump in the 80-160Hz region which a lot of people like. Without going into technicalities it's also what you get from a lot of old school 4x10's. It's probably worth knowing that this is the sound you like. I can't imagine the situation where a decent 4x10 wouldn't be 'enough' on its own as you will be easily louder than the drums. I'd probably back the idea of looking for a stand alone 4x10 that sounds good to you and have the options your other speakers provide. The vertical 2x10 stack is a great idea for dispersion but you'd still need to look for 2x10's that are voiced to give the sound you like.
Andy Damerum
Thanks for all the advice, Hopefully managed to source a decent priced 2nd hand 104 to try out. I'll have the options then. Thanks again for all the solid advice 🤘
