Black Coffee
Whilst ive played bass for 35yrs + ive never used or tried IEMs. So i apologise in advance for this probably stupid question. Can you run in ear monitors from a heaadphone jack on a bass amp ?
dudewheresmybass
In most amps, the headphone out will mute the speaker's output
jonsebass
With reference to the reply you've had above, is that the question you're asking? Yes you can use in ear monitors if you plug the appropriate cable from the headphone out into the input of your IEM system but it will bypass the signal going to the speakers in most if not all cases. Let's say you've got a wireless IEM that you want to use instead of a 2m headphone cable and you want to stand away from your amp using your 10m jack to jack... Yep, no probs. Can you run your IEMs from the headphone out and still have signal coming from the speaker... Probably not.
mike257
Two issues - one already covered above that the headphone socket generally bypasses the speaker, the other being that it's all well and good to hear your bass, but I'm assuming you'd like to hear everyone else too! You ideally need a feed from whatever mixer your band is running, to a headphone amp, to your ears. This allows for a mix of all the instruments to come your way.
