casapete
Got this email this morning - looks like a great idea. https://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/newsletter/preview/649/16535
BigRedX
In theory a really good idea. In practice they don't stock any of the strings I use or would consider as suitable alternatives to those I use.
BassAdder60
and 10% may just about cover return postage !
Trueno
Great idea… but five sets of strings is about 100 years worth for me. Probably work better for guitarists.

Maybe it could work if other band members / mates who play bass etc get involved too?
Dood
@D'Addario UK have been doing a recycling scheme for many years. Not only do you earn points for buying D'Addario strings in the first place that can be used towards discounts off future purchases via the D'Addario Player's Circle, but I believe you also earn points from recycling those very strings too!

Leonard Smalls
I'll give this a go! I change strings about every 3 months, depending on how much I play, and I've got 4 basses I use regularly...

I probably do mine around 4 times a year too, depending on amount of gigs obvs. Just replaced the first set since lockdown. Always love a fresh set of D’Addario EXLs. Somehow I don’t think players on here who use flats will be participating in this scheme though. 🤣
shoulderpet
Mine get changed once a month so I may well make use of this
Skybone
Like BigRedX said, in theory, a great idea... so long as you buy strings from them in the first place. Not one to knock a great idea and scheme though, so congrats Strings Direct and D'Addario for putting these in place. More manufacturer's and suppliers shoud put this in place instead of chucking them in the normal recycling.
TheGreek
I've recently been recycling strings to @Useless amateur who builds project basses for charity. At least I know they are being used for a good cause. Before we open the floodgates of strings to @Useless amateur make sure you contact him first.
