cetera
Does anyone here make rack ears.... or know a metal fabricator who can make some cheaply? I want to rack a Tech21 VT 500 Head but the amp/accessories are no longer made so I can't seem to find a set of the ears for it. Tech21 have been kind enough to send me the original plans/drawings for the ears with all measurements etc so I just need to find someone who can make me a pair up! Cheers muchly in advance for any help/pointers...
Nail Soup
Apologies for ignorance 😃 but what are rack ears?
cetera
Another name for the rack kit that you connect to the sides of an amp in order to rack it into an e.g. SKB rack case.....
The fasting showman
Hi Gary, How about ordering blank 2 or 3 unit Penn Elcom rack panels, cutting off the pre drilled outer sections, and getting somebody with a workshop to bend them into the required L shape and drill the holes to fix them to the amp itself? Hopefully the amp fixing screws will be Metric M3/M4 etc. Regards, Martin

Graham
You can find a metal workers who could do it for you without too much issue, however they'd have a minimum order quantity and they'll need an engineering drawing to work off. The suggestion of bolting it to a rack shelf sounds like a good one
BassBunny
I had the same problem of not being able to get rack ears for a particular amp and bought 2 aluminium angle brackets from eBay. A bit of modifying and they worked a treat. Think I still have them, but not the amp, so will take a pic and if they'll do the job you can have them. TimR
Buy a shelf and velcro it in. Shelves have or used to have slots for ventilation. Velcro through the slots in the shelf. That should hold it.
BassBunny
These are the ones I "manufactured". If they're any use, let me know.
