Paul S Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 [contrived joke alert] They were selling underpants on the merch part of their website but I was talked out of getting some. Apparently you only have to wear them for half an hour before Chernobyl fall out. 4 Quote
tauzero Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 It would appear they're over-egging the risk to life bit: https://www.independent.co.uk/travel/news-and-advice/chernobyl-safe-visit-tourism-ukraine-b1913150.html Probably more likely to decrease your life expectancy if you drive to/from a gig. 1 Quote
Teebs Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 They should've sent lead guitarists to do the research. 3 1 Quote
Hellzero Posted October 30, 2021 Author Posted October 30, 2021 Eventually not such a good idea as lead would protect them against radiations. 2 2 Quote
Downunderwonder Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 I wonder if they had to spend vast amounts of time on site deliberating on the tonal qualities of the 50 Becquerel piano vs the 30 next door before they chose one. Quote

That was the joke! Lead (pb) being too dense to allow α and β radiation through, therefore providing useful shielding in nuclear power stations and the like. The joke was based on the pun 'lead guitarist' (as opposed to rhythm), vs 'lead' (the element pb) guitarist. But no, you had to go and explain it! Sometimes you're so dense, light bends around you! 2 Quote
Newfoundfreedom Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 (edited) Problem with radioactive pianos is they have no sense of timing. They have to be geiger counted in at every performance. Ithankyou. 🧐 Edited October 31, 2021 by Newfoundfreedom 1 3 Quote
Doctor J Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 You could never really use these samples at a gig, though. Yeah, they're best used half-live. 1 1 Quote
