ezbass Posted November 1, 2021 Posted November 1, 2021 Yes, he is. He’s been to a few bass bashes too. 1 Quote
BassAdder60 Posted November 1, 2021 Posted November 1, 2021 I love it when he says “ we do that song in our band” etc etc He mentioned Paradise City too this afternoon! Great radio station and he plays some good songs .. makes it even nicer knowing he pops along on here Quote
Mudpup Posted November 1, 2021 Posted November 1, 2021 (edited) Darren Reddick - plays a Spector I believe and on the cover band circuit in Surrey (I think its Asylum Affair he's in but I may be wrong). He's a great DJ, I love the 6pm RockBlock he does. Interestingly another Planet Rock DJ - Wyatt - played drums in my band for a few years when he was about 18. He left London and headed off to be a DJ against our (poor) advice. He's now rubbing shoulders with some of his heroes from back in the day and well done to him too 🙂 (Darren, if you read this mention Jumpin' Bones to him..) Edited November 1, 2021 by Mudpup 2 Quote
Bassfinger Posted November 1, 2021 Posted November 1, 2021 Planet Rock and my puppy are about the only company I have most days. Darren does a good show, always worth a listen. Quote

He said it is widely regarded as one of the most well put together bass lines. I have to say I agree with him. Always enjoy playing Livin’ On A Prayer - it’s that key change at the end that does it for me. Quote
Mickeyboro Posted November 2, 2021 Posted November 2, 2021 (edited) Of course the fascinating thing is that Alec John Such didn’t play in the studio, so presumably Hugh McDonald? Edited November 2, 2021 by Mickeyboro Quote

cetera Posted November 2, 2021 Posted November 2, 2021 Almost definitely Hugh McDonald who played on that..... and almost everything else too... Quote
Paul S Posted November 2, 2021 Posted November 2, 2021 I believe it was McDonald. I read an interview with him where he said he played all the bass on all the studio recordings. Quote

I thought it was Such as I'd never really questioned/thought about it. I'm actually not surprised it was McDonald at all. I'd be inclined to get that mentioned on the Wiki page if I were him 🤔 Quote

cetera Posted November 2, 2021 Posted November 2, 2021 It's spelt 'Redick'..... Yes, he plays with 'Asylum Affair' and he also plays in the Lee Aaron Band around Surrey/Berks etc Quote

In addition to his Spectors, DR also has a Ric and a fur covered Steinberger/Hohner cricket bat. 1 Quote
BassAdder60 Posted November 2, 2021 Posted November 2, 2021 It would be nice to hear from Darren on here just to say hello and that we admire and enjoy his work on PR Quote
SH73 Posted November 2, 2021 Posted November 2, 2021 I love Planet Rock. My neighbours love it too as every time when I am gardening or doing stuff in the garden I take may radio out and it's always quiet around. I think they're listening to it too. 3 Quote
