Bass re fret/ setup glasgow area?

Hi everyone,

 

So on restringing a bass I bought a few weeks back, it looks like the zero fret needs replacing. Other frets seem ok but could maybe do with a tidy up.

 

Does anyone have recommendations of shops local to Glasgow who would do a good job?

 

I know strung out and Jimmy Egypt offer this service but I've never used them.

Guitar Guitar can do a good set up. There is also someone working out of CC Music where Jimmy Egypt used to work out of.

 

Jimmy Egypt would be my first port of call for fretwork.

Glasgow is spoiled for choice.  I wouldn't hesitate to go to Strung Out.

It's a fret just after the nut. It gives a more uniform sound between fretted notes and open strings.

I guess it's more forgiving to a badly cut nut too.

As mine is so worn out I don't think I'm getting the best out of it at the moment.

Hmm, a little more research shows that Sandberg slot their zero frets so this might not be wear after all.

 

Might still take it for a look over though.

i Had a bass defretted by Jimmy Egypt before.  He did a fantastic job.  Highly recommended.

Myself and rhythm guitar boy have had a lot of work done by Strung out. The girls are really friendly and won`t do work that isn`t required.
