uk_lefty
Looking for advice please. I've got LOTS of material to learn for the new band, 38 songs for a gig on the 10th December to be precise. I am able to get through almost all of it with the aid of notes scribbled by pen (see image). The other guys use iPads clipped on to mic stands for their notes because of the sheer volume of songs they get through. I've got an old iPad, I've got a mic stand mount now. I just need to find a programme that can take my hand written notes, allow me to rearrange the order for different gigs, and won't let the screen time out on me during the gig. So far I've thought of scanning in my notes and putting one song per slide on Google Slides, would that work? Is anything better? The other guys each use different programs which are overkill, IMO. uk_lefty
Oh and it also needs to work where there's no WiFi signal... So Google slides is probably out. The iPad is my wife's, she only uses it for Netflix and web browsing, I'm not familiar with Apple and their apps etc.

weeleigh
you can scan your notes so they are pdf or word format, then import them into an app like On Song or ForScore via Dropbox. I use On Song on my iPad, you don’t need a Wifi connection when playing, and it doesn’t use much of your iPad battery either. 1
Geek99
Can’t you just take photos and leaf through them In full screen ? Keep it simple Edited November 6, 2021 by Geek99

Geek99
You can switch that off, I think settjngs -> auto lock -> never Edited November 6, 2021 by Geek99
Nail Soup
Without knowing any specialist apps, I'd probably go Excel too. One song per tab.... it easy to drag the tabs into the right order for each gig. But as someone said, maybe good old paper in a folder could work. Bobthedog
Have a look at the GoodNotes app. Not cheap I recall but use it for general scribbling. Not sure about the timing out thing, however. Edited November 6, 2021 by Bobthedog 1

Cliff Edge
OnSong is probably the gold standard for this, but it’s not cheap. If you stop the screen turning off in settings, then scanning your notes into PDF’s will work. Saved onto the iPad the stock MacOS Preview app is a PDF viewer. The main issue with this option is difficulty sorting the notes into any particular order. And scrolling if a note covers more than one page.
ambient
Just to add that Fourscore isn’t just for scores or charts, it’s anything you put into it as a pdf. You can move stuff around easily, and organise everything into set lists.

I'll second ForScore, you can use the scan function to take photos of those cheat sheets and it will save them into the app as a PDF, you can then create setlists and put them in whatever order you choose, then all you have to do is tap page right to scroll through the set. If you have songs that segue one into the other, you can get a relatively inexpensive page turn pedal that Bluetooths to the iPad so you never need to take your hands off the bass. Gareth Hughes
Another vote for ForScore. Load everything in as pdf, arranged set lists on the fly. Bluetooth foot switch will stop it looking like you’re checking emails between songs.

Drax
I do exactly what you’re looking to do on my iPad with photos / screen grabs. Simply create a new album if you need a different order. Really simple solution.
