This is a 1955 gibson Lap steel The steel guitar was made by a bassist in wva..perfect fit for the wandering bassist.
Happy Jack
OK, I'll bite. What makes a bassist - ANY bassist - somehow "perfect to play steel guitar"?

Yes. I can’t think of a single thing about bass playing which would give one a greater affinity with steel guitar than musicians in general.
Jean-Luc Pickguard
If the bassist is playing the knitting machine, who'll be playing the bass?

This is the problem. I love playing the double bass, but if I take time out to play lap steel, or mandolin, or guitar, or well you get the idea, who is playing the bass? Any double bass players in Essex or Suffolk who'd like to join a first rate old-time band and let me play with my special toys, please get in touch. Newfoundfreedom
Yup. There are at least a couple of our songs that I would really like to play acoustic guitar on. But if I'm badly playing guitar, who's going to be badly playing bass?
Dan Dare
Given that lap steel is played with thumb and fingers (and players almost always wear thumb and finger picks), I'd say many bassists are not "perfect to play steel guitar, especially the finger picking style ones". Sure, they can learn, but they will probably have to make more effort than someone who plays fingerstyle slide guitar, dobro or pedal steel, because they will already have much of the technique needed. I appreciate you wanted to show off your lap steel (and very nice it is, too), but you make little sense.

Quite. This is the "Other Instruments" section. We can talk about any instrument here, no need to link it back to bass.
