Rexel Matador Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 What on earth is going on here? Is it because David Ellefson went toxic and they're trying to shake off the association? https://www.premierguitar.com/gear/reviews/jackson-x-series-concert-bass-cbxnt-dx-iv Quote
Doctor J Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 They're owned by Fender and are adopting the Fender design philosophy from the last 20+ years, namely jumble up a load of existing parts and give it a name to pretend it's something new. That Fender are now trying to cash in on Ric aesthetics is a very interesting development. That thing is a very ugly mess, it must be said. 1 Quote

thodrik Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 Another bass equivalent of that time when Homer Simpson was asked to design a car. 7 Quote

When I think of the effort I put into trying to come up with an aesthetically pleasing design for my builds, I find things like this rather upsetting 😂. And presumably this is someone's full-time job! Edited November 11, 2021 by Rexel Matador Quote
Rexel Matador Posted November 11, 2021 Author Posted November 11, 2021 I genuinely think they had a truckload of Ellefson sig bodies, suddenly realised they're going to sell a hell of a lot less of them now he's no longer in Megadeth, and panicked! Quote
Grahambythesea Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 Genuinely awful. Looks like a rummage in the parts bin. Quote
Lozz196 Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 They’ve designed a bass for Stevie Wonder…. 1 1 Quote

hiram.k.hackenbacker Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 I’d take one of these over anything PCsGC has to offer any day of the week 😂 1 4 Quote
Cosmo Valdemar Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 Heinous. Although, to be fair to Mr Ellefson, these were already a thing before his webcam antics. Quote
Cuzzie Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 It really is not that bad - I quite like it Quote

Bridgehouse Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 Mmmm. That colour is "Absynthe Frost" Which certainly explains why it gave me a headache similar to that long weekend at uni I don't remember much about.... 1 Quote
Guest Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 The review is hilarious. Bold styling?? Quote
jd56hawk Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 (edited) I tried them when they first came out. Completely uninspiring, but I can easily imagine someone grabbing a red or green one simply because of the finish, and letting that weigh heavily in their evaluation of feel and tone. Sorry, I think it's a $399 bass with a $699 price tag...but isn't that what it's all about? One more thing, it doesn't look like a Ric! Edited November 12, 2021 by jd56hawk Quote
