Downunderwonder
I wouldn't bother myself. Wrap scratches a lot easier than plastic or paint.
SteveXFR
Do they use tone vinyls? The people who argue that urethane paint gives better tone would soil themselves at the suggestion of a wrap.
Bassfinger
A high mass wrap will give a more vintage tone.
Newfoundfreedom
Wouldn't it limit the bass to only playing wrap music? (I'll get my coat)
Newfoundfreedom
Here we go. I was sure I'd seen something on here about this before. Maybe give this guy a shout? https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/407323-another-vinyl-bass-wrap/?tab=comments#comment-4026978
Paul S
I prefer CD wrap myself.
TheGreek
A friend of mine owns a sign/ printing company and they do wraps for vans, etc - think BT/ SKY/etc. I asked about having a bass done - "no problem" - but never followed up on it. No reason why your local sign makers/ printers couldn't do the same.
bubinga5
£150 for a wrap of the body. Apparently there would be a seam mark from front to back.?
Stub Mandrel
I'm going to attempt wrapping a Hohner B2 in 'carbon fibre' wrap. The vinyl and knifing tape was about £15, and I already have a scalpel and hot air gun, so not much lost if I end up peeling it all off and binning it. fleabag
I wouldn't bother with a wrap. I'd go for hydro dipping and then get the thing lacquered
ambient
Wouldn’t there be a seam?
Downunderwonder
2 hours ago, ambient said: Wouldn’t there be a seam? If very artfully applied there would be a very fine seam to a wrap. That would be next to invisible if the junction between front and back formed any sort of pattern. If you meant the dip film, not sure. I believe it is a very fine film and by the time a couple of clear coats were added the edge would probably disappear. The prepping would have to be the same standard as paint so the only advantage would be if doing something super funky.
