Good basses, no need to upgrade anything on them unless you want to. The only thing I do as a matter of course is swap the electrics to a KiOgon loom/US Fender standard and add a Hipshot Triple string retainer (to stop potential A string rattle). I’m picking an MIM Precision up on Wednesday 😀

Have added the hipshot string retainer to my Player P bass as the open A string was rattling but that's all sorted now.

Be interested in a Kiogon loom - What sort of price am I looking at?

About £35ish. They’re great, CTS Pots, Switchcraft Jack, plus being solder less they’re both easy to install and easy to troubleshoot.

I’ll just add a note to agree with everyone else who posted so far. I love mine, was prepared to mod it but no need. Performs well and sounds great. Best Precision neck to date.

Just a question to those who own a Player P. Will the headstock take the standard Fender plate tuning keys? Like the Schaller / Hipshot / Gotoh 70's plate style? Or even the Gotoh Resolute GB640, which are stunning tuning keys. All will need new screw holes drilling, but will the plates fit side by side on the Mimsy headstock?

The Hipshot HB7s are a direct drop-in, exact same size as the Fender ones so no mods required, fit side by side same as stock

Cheers fella! That's good news. I love the look of the old (pre 76) 70's and definitely the reverse Kluson style keys and wondered if they'd fit too, but maybe not. I might have to save my pennies for a Nate Mendel!

Apols in advance for the self-promotion but I have a set of essentially new HB7s listed on here atm.
