Bassmidget209
Hello hope someone can help me here. I have been having a problem with my zoom ms50b. When I got it I thought it's an ideal solution for having a suite of effects in a compact box. However it's really noisy. After full investigation I've isolated it to the zoom. I use a (cheap) isolated power supply (Harley Benton isopro2), I use one of the 500mA outputs to power the zoom by itself. However there is a high pitched whining noise going through the signal chain. It is there even if I use battery power but doesn't seem to be there if I only use the zoom on its own? I'm confused and a bit gutted as I was hoping that this was gonna be my Swiss army knife in my lastest, condensed pedal setup. Has anyone else had a similar issue? Am I missing something really obvious? Thanks in advance for all your help everyone!
stewblack
I had exactly this problem with the Zoom when used with other pedals. In the end I used batteries, or a rechargeable power bank
Newfoundfreedom
Yup. I have exactly the same problem and mentioned it in another post but nobody else seemed to have it. I power my ms50b from my Harley Benton Airborne Pro power out. But it's still there if I use another power supply or even on batteries. So I've ruled out it being the power supply. I've also used it with cables to rule out the wireless system so it's not that either. it's what I can only describe as a high pitched whine. I've found the only way to make it even bearable is to turn off the tweeter and dial the treble back on the amp.
paul_5
I’ve had this in the past, and a cheap Palmer power conditioner stopped it dead. https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Palmer-MI-PURIFIER-Power-Conditioner/1PT8?gclid=Cj0KCQiAys2MBhDOARIsAFf1D1fFq-93h5rrDJCrPrWXzZkR0m3EeKQVclzJPFPc7a2F7ydf2xK8eVMaAsgMEALw_wcB

Bassmidget209
Thanks guys, I knew you would come through! Now to be super fussy, any chance that power conditioner fits under a pedaltrain metro? 🤣

stewblack
While we're on the topic of noisy pedals, anyone any experience of this? https://www.thomann.de/gb/joyo_zgp_noise_blocker.htm

andruca
I've had this happen with a 500mA power supply from Thomann. It seems to work OK when going pedal to amp, but when I use the output with headphones (i.e. on my G1Xon) it gets noisy. The noise goes away as soon as I switch to a Zoom branded power adapter from another pedal. Don't know if it's some design flaw or it's just plain poor quality of the Thomann 9V adapter.
