evan47
Any suggestions for a nice preamp pedal that gives a great versatile clean sound, programmable would be nice but single channel will suffice. I have been looking at the MXR Thump and the new BOSS 10 band prog pedal plus the BOSS GEB 7. Also, the Trace Elliot transit B looks almost the one for me. CameronJ
I’ve been eyeing up the Trace Transit B for a looong time. If I didn’t already have a HX Stomp I’d have bought the Transit by now.
Lozz196
Tech21 Q-Strip is clean and due to having 2 bands of sweepable adjustable mids and high pass & low pass filters, very versatile 2
Delberthot
I found the Bassbone that I am selling to be incredibly clean with a good range of tones. If I wasn't changing my setup to IEMs and just using my EMG Jazz bass with 3 band EQ straight into a DI box then I wouldn't be selling it. Downunderwonder
Transit B is total overkill for clean sounds. Still, for what you would spend later on chasing compressors, plus a tuner, an overdrive, then the EQ DI pedal you might be ahead.
MrProud
I have heard very good things about the Darkglass Harmonic Booster. Sean Hurley (John Mayer, session pro) seems to like his very much
evan47
I decided on the Transit B. Just had a quick try out and it is pretty awesome......sounds huge!

Source Audio EQ2 should be on your list too.
Paul S
I use the TC Spectradrive. That gives you a DI, EQ, compressor and a choice of downloadable drive patches. I have mine set on 'Clean Boost' which is exactly that - not distorted, just a gentle boost, and is now my default 'on all the time'. it is also very small
Downunderwonder
OP decided already already.
NicoMcJ
I see you’ve already bought the Trace so I won’t say the correct answer is the VT Bass DI
stewblack
I know the op has decided on a Trace (and I'll never argue against the green magic) but others will read the thread, so I'm going to throw the Fender Downtown Express into the mix. It has dirt but you don't have to use it. Transformed my 'straight into the PA' sound from unusable to excellent.

Pinball
Sounds like a great choice...For general bass work I use an LR Baggs Stadium. I do all my recording with it asnd use it straight into the mixing bourd for live use. Compact, well built and it lets the character of the instument shine.
