I'd happily pay something for that as an upgrade. Seems very unlikely though. If this all-digital 5 knob/3 rotary switch format is going to expand with similar B7K and VMT style versions in future iterations, maybe someone will figure out a way to hack them for cross-compatibility or custom firmwares in general. Expand You could make similar claims about any number of other digital effects pedal series that are out there. One day they may release a pedal that does it all, at a price to suit, but it wouldn’t make any business sense to make multiple versions available on one device. The sheer number of people shifting Adams to buy this will tell you that! Quote
ern500evo Posted December 5, 2021 Posted December 5, 2021 It would be interesting if you could buy one physical pedal, ie the ADAM of the photon, and then be able to buy firmware/software packages from Darkglass, which you could then change in the Darkglass suite 1 Quote

People who really want both to use together would still buy both, you'd just have an additional layer of flexibility from each one (at a cost, obviously). 1 Quote

Expand I think maybe down the line a little, it could be good for Darkglass. Not everyone will want to spend £1000 on 2 pedals, but if you could buy one and then a software package to load into your pedal, at a reduced cost to the whole pedal, that could be a good option. 1 Quote
Danimal Posted December 5, 2021 Posted December 5, 2021 Provided this form factor proves popular enough, if they don't do it themselves then eventually somebody else will. 1 Quote

Rick05 Posted December 6, 2021 Posted December 6, 2021 The price of getting both the photon and ADAM is getting to the point where I’d be considering getting a quad cortex instead Quote
ern500evo Posted December 7, 2021 Posted December 7, 2021 There’s a 10min review video by Patrick Hunter up on YouTube now Quote

Was probably a bit subtle! I'm looking forward to the Nate Navarro demo - he's usually very good with new products. 2 Quote

krispn Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 It does sound good! The compression on the Adam and by virtue this is very easily managed and Gregor is correct. It can feel like it’s adding in more lows but as with compression in general an understanding of how it works helps. Quote
fretmeister Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 I like the sound of it too. I wish it had an FX loop though - to put other effects between the drive and the output / IR Quote

Have an AO drive on my DG AO 900 with comp and EQ all on tap...ok it lacks the presets that TC have been offering on their RH450 and RH750 for the past decade and the Berg BiAmp has been doing for a few years, and that this pedal is now also offering. But I'll probs be able to muddle along for a while yet. Be interesting to see if they integrate the presets tech into their next series of amps. And, nope, I won't be upgrading then either! 😉 Quote
