Are there any BassChatters who make Custom Scratchplates?

As the title says, is there anyone on here who can make Custom Scratchplates?

 

I have the original plate that can be used as a template.

If there's no luck with a BC member, it might be worth a look at Tiny Tone in Manchester (a part of Jack's Repair Services).  The site is here:

They did some work for me - a replacement celluloid tort scratchplate - for a Wilcock (and some other bits and pieces) and the quality was excellent.  Prices are reasonable too.

I checked out the website, unfortunately they don't do like-for-like replacement pickguards and recommend using TinyTone

eBay seller earliplanz will make them for anything and is decent and reasonable based on my limited experience.

There's someone in Scotland, Glasgow I think, that does them. 

He sells on ebay. I've only ever bought blank sheets to do my own but always had good service and have only heard good reports about his work.

I think mine worked out at a reasonable price as I had two control covers and the scratchplate made from the same sheet

Nearly got the spelling right! My I/eye was in the wrong place!

Yes, Brian who is 'earlpilanz' made me a 72 Telecaster Bass one from my original and it was spot on. The only extra cost (if you have a cherished /rare one ) is the recorded delivery you pay sending the original template  to him however.

I agree, however, there’s a short ‘production’ video on the Tinytone site (I found it yesterday whilst looking for the link, see below) and it sort of explains the costs involved in creating a hand-made, custom plate. Quite a lot of steps and a fair bit of kit involved.  It opened my eyes a bit - the plates I had made were relatively small but non-standard.

A bit late to the thread, but I just got my new pickguard from Brian about an hour ago. Really helpful over eBay messages and just what I wanted to hide the neck pickup hole after moving the pickup on my Combustion to NG2 pickup configuration. I'd recommend his services.

But do any of the above have a good tortoiseshell laminate? Other than the hugely expensive Spitfire they're mostly awful pepperoni looking pale immitations of the original 60s stuff.

Without wanting to derail the thread, Tinytone have a wide selection of materials including three (I think) versions of celluloid nitrate tort - essentially different base hues from red through to brown.  It's at the better end of the contemporary celluloid IMO and has a depth and richness that many lack - probably not quite as detailed and rich as some '60s tort but not bad.  I had a couple of control plates made - you can see one here - the depth of the plate implied that the surface was a little proud.  Tinytone suggested a bevel as this would reveal the upper white ply and this provides a nice border - not that it's really visible here.
