paul_5 Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 (edited) I came across this article earlier; not content with decimating the income of recording artists, Spotify seems poised to start funding military AI research. https://mixmag.net/amp/spotify-daniel-ek-ai-defence-investment-criticism Edited December 9, 2021 by paul_5 Quote

Guest Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 (edited) The thread title is innacurate. The man who founded and runs Spotify is investing his own funds into a company that provides, among other things, services to miltary customers. Spotify the company has nothing to do with this. Good luck when their lawyers catch up with you. Edited December 9, 2021 by Bassfinger Distracted by a sighting of Elvis Quote

Daz39 Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 This is from the lazy end of tabloid journalism. And that’s a compliment. Quote

wateroftyne Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 Have to say, I like the guy even less now... if that's at all possible. *Apparently he's not a fan of me either, so we're all-square 3 1 Quote

I think there’s more to it than that - and I’m sure we’ll all benefit from the trickle down to consumer goods. I’m all for it! Smarter more efficient weapons and targeting sounds like the way forward if you ask me 👍🏼 A 3000lb bomb that keeps telling you to listen to that band you hate until it takes your face off 1 Quote
EBS_freak Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 Don’t want to invest in military weapons? So no DSLR cameras, microwave ovens, cellphones, GPS (and satellite navigation), drones, the epi pen, duct tape and superglue, jet engines, portable radio, internet, night vision, blah blah… Investing in the the military and weapons is what has pushed technology into the commercial sector - some of these technologies would arguably have never come to exist without such investments. 1 Quote
