Hi all,

Just wondering what cable/cables you all recommend to link my bass to my amp. I know that with HiFi/Stereo equipment the cable quality/materials can affect the sound, making it warmer/more tinny etc. Is this the same for Bass - Amp cables?

Until he retired, I'd have recommended getting them custom from @obbm.

 

There are other custom cable makers available through Basschat, but if you're on a budget I've always found the best value (in terms of quality, signal and longevity) have been the original Fender tweed cables. Boring, I know, but true.

 

It's probably more important to know which cable manufacturers to avoid, in truth. Planet Waves have a very bad reputation here, for example.

Do you know where I can find out what other cable makers there are on here? Is there an existing thread with a list for example?

I don't want anything fancy as I'm just starting out, but something with a good sound and fairly affordable. Sounds like those Fender tweeds might be a good option, too.

Best bet is just to do some searches on Basschat ... the subject has come up at least twice during this year alone.

Try a search in "Accessories & Other Musically Related Items For Sale" a member on here made 3 cables up for me a wee while ago now....can't remember the username tho
