leschirons Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 Isn't that a bit like a "Slash" tenor sax or a Marcus Miller Strat? 1 Quote

EBS_freak Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 (edited) Looks pants as a bass. Plus there's no hope in hell of it balancing. Scale length is quite interesting though. Edited December 21, 2021 by EBS_freak Quote
Paul S Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 Simply as a design I like the look of it - has a nod to a Gibson LP Jnr DC. On the BM website it gives the neck width as 45mm which seems rather wide. Quote
Guest Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 The Brian May signature bass is actually a regular guitar, only difference being that while you're doing the gardening it sneaks up and stabs youmin the buttocks. Quote
Richard R Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 It looks OK to me too. Would be interesting to play it. 1 Quote
EssentialTension Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 Of itself, it looks interesting, but I'd be put off by the BM connection, Quote
Nail Soup Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 He didn't want to do a signature bass..... but he was badgered into it 😉 . 6 Quote
Russ Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 I've played one. It's quite nice. It is neck-heavy, but plays easily, is quite light, sounds big and tubby (very much that old Gibson vibe) and, if you like that sort of thing, is a rather good instrument. I'd suspect most Queen-loving bass players would rather opt for a Deacy-style Precision or Stingray though. He's actually got a whole range of instruments, including the bass, various versions of the Red Special, an acoustic and a ukulele! https://shop.brianmayguitars.co.uk/brian-may-guitars.html Quote
leschirons Posted December 21, 2021 Author Posted December 21, 2021 Personally..not for me but I probably would go for a Brian May signature telescope. Quote
Guest Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 The Brian May signature toupee was never a big seller. Quote
Grimalkin Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 That bucker has got some booty, it can certainly move some air, check it out. It's banging: 1 2 Quote
fleabag Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 Imagine bumbling into a pub and whipping out Brian May's wallet to get a round in. I'm gonna get me some of that. Bargain 1 Quote
fleabag Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 Dammit Forgot about Omnicron. Better score myself a BM mask. Another bargain.. Quote
Grimalkin Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 Apparently the BMG Classic Hoodie is supposed to have good coverage against the elements, any way the wind blows. Quote

visog Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 I quite like the look. Sensing a Gibson tone from it. Quote

There were a few signed guitars in open cases going out to collectors. (BM lives in Windlesham, barely five minutes drive from the Bass Centre location.) Red Special guitars aside, they also distribute the Arielle; these are the brightly coloured Firebird-ish models with the same guts as the BM model. 1 Quote
Downunderwonder Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 Couldn't be any worse handling than a Gibson LP 'bass'? Quote
police squad Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 My main gigging guitar (for my 80s thing) is a BM red special. It really is a great guitar with great sounds available from the pickups and the switching system. 1 Quote
