Grahambythesea Posted December 27, 2021 Posted December 27, 2021 A Christmas gift was this mug illustrated with classic guitars including a Stat, Les Paul, Rickenbacker, Gretsch and an Ibanez. Then there was just one bass, an Epiphone Newport. A Classic no doubt, but a bit obscure, I don’t think I’ve ever seen one for real. No Precision, Jazz, Rivoli, Hofner or Ricky. Quote
Guest Posted December 27, 2021 Posted December 27, 2021 Can't believe they didn't go for a SB-55 Quote
neepheid Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 How bizarre! I think the guitars were photographed in person by someone who didn't know/care what a bass is and the Newport happened to be in shot when the collection on the wall was being photographed. It's guitar shaped, innit? There's no way you can randomly Google up a picture of a bass and the first results include an Epiphone Newport. Quote
Guest Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 If your a mug designer, and you've already put a Strat on do you (a) put a Precision (b) look for something that provides some visual variety? It's not that they've been ignorant or careless, it's that they've been good at their job in a way you're choosing not to perceive. Quote
Nail Soup Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 The guitars are all classics, and look good as well. The bass was a "basses can be pretty too" choice. 1 Quote
Grahambythesea Posted December 28, 2021 Author Posted December 28, 2021 Perhaps because it’s short scale it fitted the size of the mug better🤔🤣 Quote
