If I get a Boss LS2 to replace my replacement one sent back, but use it as a little mixer to blend in a mic and not as a line selector, I'm assuming that's ok as it's not being used as 'bass gear'?

It's in the signal chain. You're nicked.

It's at the end of the signal chain and not affecting the tone any more than putting the output of my pedal board into a "proper" mixing desk. And getting a new mixing desk certainly wouldn't be considered to be "bass gear", would it?

I think it's time to rename the thread, as it's no longer about the abstinence and become the Loopholes and Bargaining thread 2022 ;)

And already by far the most popular gear abstinence thread EVER!! 😄

Are you running your bass through it on your board?

new mixing desk is ok.

new mixing desk is ok.

It's being used as a mini mixer. So it's off board with one input being the output from my pedal board. Other input is a vocal mic.

Not planning on using it until 1 Jan 2023 for line selecting duties which would impact my bass signal pathway. But as it will have been bought and paid for in the previous year won't affect GAC 2023. Neat loophole or wot?! Would make a tax planner proud!

Well I made it through Jan, just!

I have - and nothing on the horizon.

A pickguard for the sabre I ordered in December arrives tomorrow.

And a yamaha bb tuner/machine head.

does that mean I’m still in - it’s to keep the bass functioning…

I've seen probably 2 I normally would have bought by now, but rationalised them away. Don't think I'll make the year by any means but it's good to be able to hold back for once.

If any of the 'always wanted' basses come up at the right price, I'm out.

I'm looking at you Yamaha RBX6JM.

Luckily you ordered that in December.

If it was January you'd be straight outta here!

We all know how big a difference the sonic properties of 'tonePVC' makes to your sound.

😁

Can a pickguard change the way a solidbody sounds? The answer is yes.
