Thunderbird Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 (edited) Was thinking of some basschat members that used to contribute to the forum lots but just seemed to disappeared and I often wonder if they are OK and what they are doing Anyone else think about this or just me? Hellzero Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 No, you are not alone. @Christine@josie for instance have sort of disappeared. I wonder what happened. Quote
Cato Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 (edited) I like to think that they've transcended* to a higher level of bass playing, one where they are no longer concerned with mundane matters such as GAS or fingers vs pick or which bass is best for metal. *transcended in Budhist/karmic way...not dead. Old Horse Murphy Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 Maybe they just got tired of our sh*t For whatever the reason I hope they're happy, healthy and still playing Bass. 5 3 Quote
Steve Browning Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 Mind you, there are others whom I (personally) don't miss in the slightest. 9 1 Quote
jezzaboy Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 I wonder what became of @OutToPlayJazz and @icastle. Just 2 I can think of off the top of my head. But I suppose some people just get fed up and move on. OTPJ was a great source of wisdom. Quote

There may have been a falling out. 1 Quote

neepheid Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 It's easily done. I disappeared for a while - sold a lot of my basses because things were tight and just went off bass a bit, not enough to stop playing but enough to stop spouting crap on here about it 1 Quote
Old Horse Murphy Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 I'm sure I recall Outtoplayjazz left under a bit of a cloud. I could be mistaken though. Quote
Clarky Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 I also quit for a few years for my own reasons (which I won't go into). But obviously I had to return at some point so I could resume losing money on buying and selling basses. 2 11 Quote

Rumple Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 A couple that come to mind are nugget who made my 5 string for me & Discreet who sold me then bought back his 76 P bass, he lived locally at the time. 1 Quote
Reggaebass Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 I was a long time lurker for about 5 years before I joined , and there was definitely some bad characters around then, imo it’s a nice place now and I think it’s down to the moderators doing such a great job, my ignore list is very small now 😁 3 Quote
Clarky Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 @discreetwas always entertaining and also a fine bassist (I saw him play live with Pigbag maybe 10 years ago). I recall he did occasionally take breaks from BC and this may be another of those 4 Quote

Bassassin Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 I liked Beefy. Why'd he get banned, again? Quote

Marvin Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 (edited) @xilddx @Tinman @Mrs Tinman @OutToPlayJazz @ShergoldSnickers @discreet @Zoe_BillySheehan @Josh @jakenewmanbass Of course there was @OldGit, who will always be missed. I seem to recall their being someone called The Butler who was in a band called Midas Fall, bought their first album which was very impressive. There was The Funk (?). @discreet is one of the funniest people I know. I don't think I've met anyone else who's got a euphemism for almost everything. I'm probably in a small minority of the people, who've been here long enough to remember Beefy, who found him to be a complete derrière. Edited December 30, 2021 by Marvin Grammmmer 5 1 Quote
