SteveXFR Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 Due to a case of golfers elbow (I've never played golf) I'm finding it quite painful to play anything fast which gets the fretting hand busy. While I can play through the pain, it's not good for recovery. Any recommendations for metal songs which don't get the fret hand moving too fast but are still interesting? I've been trying some Down this morning but the fast fills make my forearm feel like it's about to burst open. 1 Quote
Chaosanator Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 Quite a few iron maiden songs are mostly in the right hand. The Trooper, run to the hills etc 🙂 Quote
Bunion Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 (edited) This is where you make the right hand do the work and the left cruises Edited January 1, 2022 by Bunion 2 Quote

Guest Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 (edited) Uriah Heep's Gypsy. Edited January 1, 2022 by Bassfinger Glass eye fell out Quote
dudewheresmybass Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 A lot of priest stuff doesn’t bother the left hand too much 1 Quote
Delberthot Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 Iron Maiden's Killers is easy on the fretting hand and also for coordination 1 Quote
Doctor J Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 Perhaps some Eerie Von stuff off the first 4 Danzig albums? Great songs but no fretboard gymnastics required in order to play along. 1 Quote
TheLowDown Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 A lot of Smashing Pumpkins are laid back. 1 Quote
Jonesy Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 Sticking with the Down family, how about Albatross, or any other corrosion of conformity? Mike Dean's a good bassist but their stuff isn't too speedy. 1 Quote

Jonesy Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 A lot of Orange Goblin has good bass lines too, their earlier stuff is slower with a more if a groove that might be friendlier to your hands. Karma to Burn, Church of Misery, Fu Manchu, Nebula & Red Fang will all have songs that fit the bill too 1 Quote
SH73 Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath Or You Suffer by Napalm Death, the song is only 3 seconds long Quote
Saul Panzer Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 Not sure what your flavour of metal is or how slow you're after: I'm a huge fan of Sentenced/Poisonblack...Finnish metal, not the fastest stuff usually, more of a workout for your pick technique than your left hand with a lot of alternating between open strings and some hammer-ons along these lines. https://www.songsterr.com/a/wsa/poisonblack-love-infernal-bass-tab-s50710 Between both bands they've got a lot of slower stuff or if the various tab sites are anywhere near accurate, simple low movement but faster sounding stuff like Luxury of a grave...busy right hand but the left is basically camping on a single fret per bar so you can play 90% of it with 1 finger and a little arm movement. 1 Quote
