Tech question re AER Compact mobile

Just a quickie, maybe someone will have an idea.

I'm clearing out a few bits, one of which is my AER  Compact Mobile amp. Haven't used it for a good couple of years and now it won't charge when connected to the mains.  Have sourced new batteries to fit before putting it up for sale however, the actual charge light does not light up. I get that the batteries are probably no good but I'm concerned that if I change them, there may also be a fault with the charge circuit.

So, if a battery / batteries are no good, would that stop the charge light illuminating?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe worth asking Markus HOPPE at AER.

He's a very nice guy, sometimes a bit slow on answering, but he will.

It's a general email address, but adding a note for Markus will make the email reach him.

[email protected]

He is the service manager and is also taking care of my (now) AER stuff. 😉

Sent a mail to AER first (3 days ago) and no reply yet although I guess, what with the holidays and all that.  I'll send another, for his attention and see what happens.

Thanks for the info.

Well,

Resent the mail last night, att Markus, and had a reply by 8.am this morning. Question answered and all sorted.

Very impressed, so thanks for your suggestion. Much appreciated.

Hi, it turns out that if the batteries will not accept a charge, it automatically cuts out the charge circuit, which means the light won't illuminate.  I got the correct batteries from Amazon, £34 for the pair. Be aware though, if you do replace the batteries, the first charge took 30 hours.

I did the whole job through the speaker hole.
