Richard Jinman Posted January 14, 2022 Posted January 14, 2022 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/304290976019 Road worn by the climate in Orkney, apparently. Certainly looks like authentic wear and tear, but is there a point at which wear becomes dereliction? Quote
NancyJohnson Posted January 14, 2022 Posted January 14, 2022 I had a Precision from that period and the finish was bombproof; I'd take (with a big pinch of salt) the claim a previous owner lived in Orkney...what did he do, leave it outside or use it as an oar? That looks like it's been in a flood. It's odd there's little evidence of finish damage on the neck. Quote

Hellzero Posted January 14, 2022 Posted January 14, 2022 No apologies needed, it's the right place to put this. Now, you just have the explanations about the condition of this bass. 😉 Quote
NikNik Posted January 14, 2022 Posted January 14, 2022 That poly has either had acid poured over it or, as was hinted at in the previous thread, been victim to a heat gun 2 Quote
Dan Dare Posted January 14, 2022 Posted January 14, 2022 My '72 sunburst was similarly battered, although not as bad as that. I stripped it back in the 90s. Fortunately, the grain wasn't bad, so I oiled it and left it bare. Wish I hadn't, now roadworn is 'in', but there we are. Quote
