Single pickup passive non-Precision basses. Do new ones exist?

Starfires are NICE. And I hold my hands up, didn't know those Sandbergs came with just the volume/tone controls. I like the look of them a lot. (Coil split means too many options for me 🙂)

But I'd still argue that (long scale!) mass market brands don't embrace the concept, and that that's strange. For example I don't understand why there's not a 1 pickup Ibz Talman or Yam BB competing with Fender Players etc.

I guess it's hard to sell to marketing "what, fewer options!? How do we sell that?"

I'll throw EBMM Cutlass into the mix, very P though and discontinued last year.

That's kinda my point. Manifestly there's a HUGE market for fewer options. Millions of people go for (Fender and Squier) Precisions, possibly above all other options. Perhaps it's just too strong a brand to compete with.

The Precision bass is the epitome of the single pickup bass and simplicity, so yes it's all and everything you can get, or switch to its evolution (Music Man or G&L).

It will be hard to beat, indeed.
