Eight
Just wondering if anything changed overnight here. Come into work this morning to find BC is now blocked by our proxy server. Chances are they've updated something here to do it, but I'm clinging at straws hoping it's because of a change to the site that can be put back. Going to be a long day. As you may have noticed, I have my way around it but its not a friendly browsing experience.
Toasted
Depending on how amenable your sysadmin is you might be able to bribe him to take BC off the blocked websites list? I *believe* NiceGuyHomer has a funny story to this effect.
Eight
Too big a company to even find the guy responsible let alone bribe him. God I hate having sold my soul to corporate america sometimes. Looks like its not related to the BC server/site at all; heard a few other people complaining about blocked sites this morning. They've also done a cracking job of blocking access to web proxy sites like hidemyass.com. Someone is getting paid too much to ensure the rest of us can't have five minutes of fun during the working day.
Machines
I get away with it here. In fact thinking about it for such a large organisation hardly anything is blocked, only objectionable material really. I usually come on here using the lofi version which looks less conspicuous. Even if it does get blocked i'm a domain admin and will sort it out
farmer61
I am the IT guy (inaddition to HR, Finance, Janitor etc), so if I can't get access I only have myself to blame.
Eight
Still weighing up whether to take measures to by pass their restrictions. Its one thing looking at a site like this at work, its another thing to circumvent IT procedures in order to do so. Might get a netbook and bring that in instead. That way noone gets hurt.
