Sold a Gramma Pad today on FB. Had a message today asking if it was still for sale. Then the guy replied that he was busy working and would send FedEx to collect and give me cash. Being sure is seen this mentioned on here, or somewhere else as a scam - I simply said no but would accept PP or even transfer. Anyone else encountered this? Seems unlikely that FedEx would pay at the door

It’s quite a well known scam. After agreeing you’ll get a message from the buyer to say he can’t pay cash, but will you take PayPal.

They’ll then say they haven’t received the item. Obviously with no trackable shipping PayPal will just refund him.

Like most things, PayPal is fine when used correctly.

Yes, but their refund policy is open to scams & offers little in the way of protection to the seller.

Me neither, at least not for something sold on Facebook or Gumtree. It’s cash or bank transfer on collection only with them.

On reflection I was being a little flippant.

I shouldn't post when in a bad mood.

Just to say, these scams aren't just on high end goods.

Got taken for the princely sum of £35 few years back.

Buyer was upfront about scamming me after the event, a case of "so, what ya gonna do about it".

What I couldn't get my head around was I knew his address, the stupidity of some people is mind boggling....
