Playing octave patterns can be challenging on the bass guitar because of string skipping and the speed at which you often have to play them.

You've probably heard octaves grooves in loads of Disco tunes and these bass patterns are often the most recognisable part of the song.

But as well as Disco, mastering octaves is so important for playing in many other styles of music. 

In my latest lesson I show you the correct techniques to use with your fretting and plucking hands to play different octave patterns.

I also show you five classic Disco octave patterns in the video.

Whom doesn't like a good octave run.😎

 

Not disco but, the biggest octave fest I've heard (and played) is Durans Girls On Film. 

 

 

Again not disco, more funk Positive Force We've Got The Funk, lashings here too. 

 

 

Proper disco octave frenzy...

The Positive Force track has the classic ‘Carwash octave pattern’.
