Truss rod allen key

Not sure whether post here or in "tecnical".

Whats the truss rod allen key size on bb425, i e tried a couple of 5mm but they appear a tad too big. An old imperial 5/16" works but its loose fit.

Surely Yamaha would not have their own size ?

As far as im aware its the original rod ie: two way adjustment.

Thanks in advance.

I don't think it'll be Imperial for Japanese instruments, so it's likely a 4mm key if the 5mm is too big.

There's been no Imperialism in Japan since 1945.

And checked my BB415 just, 4mm is correct.

Thanks for reply, now where's my 4mm gone?

I use this Ibanez multitool for nearly every bit of work I do on mine. The truss rod/allen keys have fit everything i've had in the last few years apart from US made stuff.

You’re right 3/16.

Now things go from bad to worse. On putting new strings identical to the original D’Addario’s , the nut has broken on the B side. Perhaps a difference in diameter of nickel and steel, seems odd. New nut or glue.

I had this happen recently, the G side pinged off but managed to find it. Superglue and 30 mins it was fine
