I was just scoping out flats and nylon wound strings for a new acoustic bass. I checked out pricing on the usual direct online sellers. I was quite shocked to see prices for D’Addario strings were roughly the same, or more than La Bella equivalents. I am sure their nylon wound sets used to be much cheaper.

I can’t say I have been keeping a log of D’Addario prices, so this is purely subjective but the prices of flats and nylon wounds do seem to have jumped considerably. Has anybody else noticed this, or am I just imagining it?

Like you I have not been looking at them for a while but £55 for s set of Chrome Flats  Ouch. I also checked Fender Flats that are made by D'Addario. They are £33-37, the last set I boughts was under £30.

D'addario rounds price has crazily gone up a few years ago.

My usual Prosteel 170-5 suddenly jumped from 17, 19 euro per set to a 25, 27 € and even 30€ at the moment on Thomann.

Clearly, those strings were very good at 20€ but at 30€, no way. I switched to Sadowsky at the time and I'm actualy using Sandberg's.

I still have a set of Labella (rx I think) that I have to test.
