I’m selling this wonderful bass made in USA by Dan Lakin (founder of Lakland basses) in 2021. “Inspired series”, n.1 of 10. Alder body (a mix of explorer and thunderbird shape, "a la John Entwistle"), maple neck (P style) and birds-eye finger board, passive, thunderbucker pickups (handmade in USA, best Gibson ‘63 pu replica). MINT CONDITION. Original price was 4500 euro.  Soft gig bag included. Partial trades accepted.

Wow!  I've had a couple of US Lakland basses and they were superb in every respect - I can imagine that this is no different.  I'm not usually a fan of pointy body shapes but this looks incredibly sleek - a very cool and thoughtful re-imagining.  I don't play fives (or long-scales really) but this is a real head-turner.  It might be useful to include a link to your video review?

To be clear though, this isn’t a US Lakland, nor do I believe it was built by them. Mr Lakin was also not a luthier, he was the ‘ideas’ guy (and excellent at it I should say), so do you know who built the bass @Alberto Rigoni?

Thanks Sibob, absolutely - these are not US ‘Lakland’ basses.  A few hints that Dan Strack (Chicago based luthier and furniture maker) is involved with DL in the US based production of the Inspired series - it would be good to know more. The Lakin site is currently ‘closed’.

While you're at it, some more basic information would be helpful.

 

What does this bass weigh? What is the scale length? What is the string spacing? What do the control knobs do?

Weight is around 4kg, or a bit less, 35 inch scale, 19 string spacing, volume volume tone

I'm sure it's made in USA under Dan Lakin control, don't have much more info.
