1965 Hofner Senator Bass - *SOLD* £700 Abingdon, Oxfordshire

Absolutely stunning all original Hofner Senator Bass, made in 1965 in the German factory. This is the real deal, and sounds sublime. That wonderful honky low end attack...play with a pick and mute with your palm, you'd struggle to find a better recorded bass tone!! You see so many of these without the original pickguard, but not this one, it's all there.

 

Has just been set up by pro luthier so intonation is spot on, plays like a dream. Electronics are all good too, ready to rock. At present there is no case with it, so a handover near Oxfordshire or London is preferable. But if a serious buyer wanted to source a hard case I am not averse to shipping.

My brother had one of these. I borrowed it to learn on until I got a bass of my own.

I had one of these. It was my first bass guitar, second hand in 1972 or thereabouts. I think I sold it  a couple of years later for £15, should have hung onto it with hindsight.

 

Quite unusual to see one in this condition without a heel repair or re-glueing. Very nice, good luck with the sale.

Sure it is 1890. That comes up as the year 1965 on the Hofner serial number decoder

Actually, it’s seems to depend which decoder I use.

It's not 1956. The Dagger design on the headstock dates from 1964. 1963 and earlier had a treble clef motif.

It’s definitely a 60’s one. The earlier one has a different logo on the head stock, Hofner written vertically, then another with a treble clef on it.

Go to the 3 little dots top right hand side and select edit, should work from there
