neepheid Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 Am I the only one looking at this thinking the colours not particularly bold (apart from the shell pink) or particularly bright (apart from the shell pink)? Especially when placed next to the bold, bright text... 9 Quote
Velarian Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 Yep, there’s nothing bold or bright there. Even the shell pink looks a bit insipid. Is the text some sort of sarcastic addition by someone rather than official company marketing material? Quote
Eldon Tyrell Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 Agree, "bold and bright" immediately made me think of this recently released bass 6 Quote
Joe Nation Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 They could've taken the film of the scratchplate for the fancy studio shoot. Quote
binky_bass Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 It's clearly a pìss take... the words in that picture above look very much like someone has crudely added them to the picture to make a sarcastic point. 1 Quote

The grey background behind the text doesn't match the grey background behind the guitars. Clearly fake. Quote
fleabag Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 Yup, there's a border that can be seen around the text, because the grey is a different shade. So yes.. Quote
Badscrew Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 G&L custom shop - they know what bold bright and sparkly is. This is dark and shy. Quote

I'd still snap a guitar/bass up if one came up looking like that. Edited February 10, 2022 by Old Horse Murphy Quote

A Google Lens search only shows two matching results for the picture on the web, this thread and another identical thread on TalkBass. The other similarity is the thread author's name on both threads. Edited February 10, 2022 by OllyW 1 Quote
Jonesy Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 The pink looks good on the Gretsch site, but a bit washed out on guitarguitar, so it's hard to say where it falls. I like the Bristol fog (or whatever it's called, it's the one next to the pink), but still reckon Torino green is the winner in that line up Quote

Especially when placed next to the bold, bright text... Yes, I was being sarcastic, however that is their new color line. However, the new colors are the very definition of ho-hum. Even the pink is drab. This is what I call pink. Edited February 10, 2022 by jd56hawk Quote
SonnyBassPlayer Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 I actually love those dark shy colors. The walnut-y one (not the reddish) is great IMHO. Quote

Sibob Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 I think they look great, nice dark green, really nice walnut, the pink is a nice vintage shell pink. Good on Gretsch! Si Quote
Badscrew Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 A bright orange metallic with big flakes and I order one immediately 1 Quote
Lozz196 Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 I like them, have thought about buying one of these a few times (the black one of course). Quote

yorks5stringer Posted February 11, 2022 Posted February 11, 2022 Don't know if it makes any difference but Fender market and distribute Gretsch guitars, so maybe they keep all the cool shades for Fenders? 1 Quote

Well, Fender does have four or five exciting new finishes, but if you only have $850 to spend, I'm afraid it's dull, drab and dreary. Quote
mr4stringz Posted February 11, 2022 Posted February 11, 2022 Off topic (and I may well be alone in this), but a run of Electromatic Billy Bo basses would make me happy. 1 Quote
neepheid Posted February 11, 2022 Posted February 11, 2022 I wonder if they were backreferencing the 1968 Gretsch catalogue with that colourful text. Not as close as I thought looking at it again but that's what it initially reminded me of 1 Quote
