magee Posted April 9, 2009 Share Posted April 9, 2009 I hope you can help me to book a courier: how much, roughly, does a bass in a hard case weigh? I'm just looking for a ballpark to book the courier service with. It's a Ric 4003, so not the heaviest of basses, and it's a bog-standard case, so I suppose slightly on the heavy side, not a slinky ultra-modern one. warwickhunt Posted April 9, 2009 Share Posted April 9, 2009 Couriers ask for a weight and can under some circumstances penalise you if it is over, added to which pricing tends to be based upon volumetric weight so if you go for 15kg you can't go wrong. The courier [Parceline, booked via interparcel: £50 odd to get to Spain, I thought that wasn't bad] had the same price right up to 19kg, so I just put in 19, just in case. I sent a power amp with them, they took it 900 miles across Europe safely in less time than it takes the Royal Fail to smash a Hohner to bits during a 50 mile delivery, and for about the same cost too.
