Gimme a K (1er) Gimme an A (1er) Gimme a Y (1er) What've ya got? A £300 Kay

I remember when all my school friends had a rickety Kay, Eko or Satellite guitar or bass chucked in the corner of the room, probably bought from a catalogue by their parents.  Never stayed in tune, had a massive action and sounded awful even when new, but were OK for thrashing some Stiff Little Fingers or Sex Pistols out on (usually through a  nasty JHS or HH amp).

Dreadful things. When the first Japanese Squiers and Tokais came along it was a game changer for us kids then, as they were actually affordable playable instruments in the days when owning a real Fender or Gibson was a pipe dream for most people!

I wouldn't pay £30 for a Kay, let alone £300, but I guess they have some interesting zeitgeist.
