vinorange
Hello out there I recently acquired a rather lovely USA Fender limited run FMT but am not too sure whether to upgrade the preamp. Has anyone any experience of the Fender deluxe preamp board (part No 054137) and have you swapped it out to really liven up the sound of the bass? It is ok but limited. No active / passive bypass, no mid frequency selection and boost only on the Eq. I had thought about an East Uni pre 4 but wondered if there are other options out there that people have used. It's not got a plate btw so not a drop in. Cheers Edited April 26, 2023 by vinorange

JPJ
I had a Fender Jazz V DLX a few years back and the active pre on that used to distort a little when the battery was getting low.

I have changed the batteries but I went budget bob and swapped for used ones. I think I'll try brand new before any drama then but still wouldn't mind knowing what's recommended out there.... vinorange
Fresh batteries on board and still a bit of fizz when pushed. I wonder is there a better option for the preamp that'll work well with those noiseless pickups?
