String Help

Morning folks

I have a Fender bass that when new arrived with the string set of the following:

45-65-85-105

 

Ive just received some stings that I ordered by accident and they are a slightly heavier gauge:

50-70-85-105

 

Will they fit or should I order the correct gauge?

I realise they’ll would feel different, set up would change etc!

I'd be very surprised if they didn't fit.

 

If you're worried loosen off the D and G strings and slip them out of the nut so you can test the new D and G in the nut slots.

I did the same on my Sandberg and they fitted fine, any bigger and I don’t think they would without a bit of easing  🙂

You may need to tweek the truss rod as they will have slightly more tension than the stock strings

And you’ll probably find that you love them, I prefer slightly heavier D & G on Fenders, brings a bit more meat into the sound.

I'd expect those strings to fit. I always go for the heaviest gauge strings I can find. More meat as @Lozz196 says.

Restrung my bass with them, tweaked the neck and they are perfect.

Mine too, sound great and I get nearly a years use from them
