The bass is very prominent on a lot of Pearl Jam's '10'.

You can mostly get away with covering the songs without the 12 string or the fretless too.

I seem to be learning grunge classics at the moment.

Rooster has been the most fun so far. Any other suggestions for great grunge songs to play?

Rooster is great and yes I am a bit biased as a big AIC fan. These are my other AIC fav lines: Man in the Box, Angry Chair, Sea of Sorrow (only one string but still cool as, well, I cannot say as what ;- ), Bleed the Freak, Would, Junkhead, It Ain't Like That, Down in a Hole and and and.

Play them on one of these 😉

not strictly grunge but Stone Temple Pilot's Plush has some great lines. Very melodic and consisting of several interesting but not too difficult parts (so an amateur like me can also handle them and gains some sense of achievement ;-).

That's a beautiful bass. I've wanted one based on the sounds Rex Brown used to get out of his

Loving the STP stuff - Robert DeLeo is a fab player. Really creative and Plush is a great shout

Agree. Interstate Love Song is another great one to play

Also, Robert Weston of Shellac always makes me want to pick my bass up whenever I hear one of their songs

Dam That River by Alice In Chains was always one of my favourites to play live back in the day, despite being quite repetitive.  Porch by Pearl Jam was another I really enjoyed.

All fun. Soundgarden, from Screaming Life through to Superunknown, have a wealth of fantastic basslines to play. Yamamoto and Shepherd were both superbly creative players.

My go to Grunge lines that I noodle around on at home tend to be Pearl Jam, STP and Live. Started doing more AiC recently - I Know Somethin ‘Bout You is a fun boingy line.

My personal favourites are Rotten Apple by Alice in Chains, STP's Big Empty and Jeremy by Pearl Jam.

I regularly play those three, they're all great.

I forgot Tad, how did I forget about them? I'll be playing Greasebox later. Melvins are always great

An absolute juggernaut of a bassline. I don't really consider Soundgarden to be Grunge, but some people do.

We should not let labels bother us, it is just great music and let's celebrate it 😃

I really use to enjoy playing 'Man in a box' by Alice in Chains, so that gets my vote.

Other notable additions to my list would be 'My Wave' and 'the day I tried to live' from Soundgarden.

Doesn't My Wave involve some weird tuning? Possibly EEBb?

Great song though

Probably stretching Grunge too far, but how about Cannonball by The Breeders?

I'd say alternative rock but then grunge was alternative rock anyway.

I think that was the second bass line I learnt.
