itsat34 Posted March 8, 2022 Posted March 8, 2022 Yup! Crispens up the sound...and reassuringly expensive! 😄 Quote
Bunion Posted March 8, 2022 Posted March 8, 2022 It was designed originally for old passive alembics so they don’t need to be modified to active but I’m reliably told they work well with any bass. Are they expensive? Maybe, but look at the cost of a Hazlab preamp for a Spector or better still imagine if Wal put a preamp in a cable, I couldn’t see them being far off that price and I’m sure people would snap them up Quote
NikNik Posted March 9, 2022 Author Posted March 9, 2022 I'd be worried about damage. It seems to have a dent in it. 1 Quote
jazzyvee Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 (edited) Those cables are for use with passive instruments so no use on alembics which are all active unless modded post build. A link to alembic's info on it. https://alembic.stores.yahoo.net/activecable.html Edited March 10, 2022 by jazzyvee Quote
NikNik Posted March 10, 2022 Author Posted March 10, 2022 I'd have the instinctive notion to hack into it. Quote
prowla Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 So, a £20 cable with a £xxx battery-powered preamp in a wooden block included. Quote
