Pan
Hi Guys I have just ordered the Orange Terror 500 , but i'm unsure as which cab to get , its either the OBC112 or the OBC 115 , most of the reviews i have seen on youtube everyone seems to be using the OBC112 , am i missing something here ,will the OBC115 not work well with that amp ? thanks v much in advance John
Lozz196
It will work fine, just a matter of choice re the sound, seems the ‘tubers prefer the 12, whereas you might hear the 15 and vastly prefer it.
Pan
Thanks Lozz - i have a Gibson thunderbird if that will make any difference in choice ?
Lozz196
I’d reckon that will be a chest cavity rumbling sound that many will be very envious of.
BassAdder60
Definitely get the 15 as I’ve heard people say the single 12 is boxy sounding
Cat Burrito
I've used Orange for years. Neither are wrong. The OBC112 does seem to be the popular choice these days. Personally I have used a 2x10, 2x12 and now mostly 1x15 with a 4x10 - all Orange. It's a versatile head so most cabs sound great with it.

I hope you at least stack the 15 on the top so you can hear it's cries of pain over the far more able 4x10.
Pan
Thanks guys for the help - one last thing ( im quite new to this ) the cable to link these up would it have to be the speakon to speakon or just the regular 1/4 jack ? Thanks
Lozz196
Speakon to Speakon (just had a look at pics of them online).
BassmanPaul
In this day and age, considering the power available from amplifiers, no one should still be using 1/4" phone plugs to connect between amplifier and cabinet. Never ever use an instrument cable for this duty!! Edited March 20, 2022 by BassmanPaul
karlfer
OBT mk 11 with two OBC 112's, killer portable rig. Simple, powerful & light. Plenty of tones in it but of course you have controls on your instrument and pedals if you must. Just an opinion, but my permanent gig rig now.
Jellis78
I use the mk2 with x2 obc112s… sounds great, wasn’t quite so keen with just the one cab. If I was going for a single cab I’d be tempted by the 115.
Highfox
I'm late to the party but just took collection of a new OTB 500 and will get to try it out today at practice . Going into a 4ohm Genz neo 212. Had the cab about 10 years and it's handled everything I have thrown at it over that time with lot's to spare. BassAdder60
I’m liking Orange amps I’m using the Little Bass Thing and it’s a super loud amp head The compression on it makes it sound tube like

My mk1 definately had two as I remember upgading them. I want to get an OTB again as I miss it dearly.

CJPJ
I didn’t realise that - I thought it was just a different form factor but it makes sense thinking about it as there’s no room for the valves!
knirirr
The Terror 500 with OBC112 was my choice as this combination is lighter than the old Trace Elliot BLX combo it replaced, not particularly bulky, and sounds good with BG. It even works well enough with a pre-amp for DB. Just as well, as I don't have any other amplifier suitable for gigs, and even at rehearsals the drummer always wants lots of bass volume. Seriously even in the biggest non pa support gigs you will never struggle to be heard. The speakers do not struggle.

Its all about moving air. You,ll get more depth and punch from the 2 over one and you,ll be getting full beanz out of the head.

stewblack
I ran my MK1 Terror (1k!!) into two 15s. They weren't Orange, but Markbass. I sold the lot for not much money and it was a very poor decision. I recommend it but be warned it will be soooo loud. I couldn't turn it down enough for pub gigs, even big ones.
BassAdder60
My Orange Little Bass Thing 500w head is very loud so I can imagine a 1000w head must be extreme !
